A joint study by FAO, ILO and UNESCO

This joint study by FAO, ILO and UNESCO is a synthesis of three case studies conducted in the Philippines, Thailand and Viet Nam. It aims to identify relevant training and employment needs and opportunities of rural youth in order to reduce poverty. This research is timely since young people make up the majority of migrants streaming into towns and cities from the rural areas in search of jobs placing pressure on urban labour markets. The findings from the three country studies suggest the need for enhanced policy coordination to address limited human and financial resources, particularly in terms of reaching the local and community levels.
