Study on consumer demand, feasible economic opportunities and related training needs of young people in Chitungwiza, Gokwe South, Marondera, Mt Darwin, Mutoko and Norton in Zimbabwe: Executive summary
The study is part of the ILO program on “Skills for Youth Employment and Rural Development”. One of its objectives is promotion of enhanced employment and income generating opportunities through skills development initiatives. Based on ILO’s Training for Rural Economic Empowerment (TREE) methodology, this study investigates consumer demand and labour market opportunities for rural and peri-urban youth in Zimbabwe. Its findings informed recommendations on economic opportunities for young people and proposed strategies for addressing labour market constraints and skills gaps. It also highlights economic activities that are feasible and have potential for sustainable growth and broad reach among the youth.
