This document is one of a collection of notes about public employment services (PES) in selected Latin American and Caribbean countries jointly launched by the ILO.

The Mexican PES has evolved substantially throughout its 37 years of operation, making significant advances in coverage, quality and adequacy of services delivered. At present, its services are available nationwide and range from job-matching, counselling and placement to active labour market programmes for training, self-employment, labour mobility and the prevention of job losses.
