La Estrategia de Competencias de la OCDE proporciona un enfoque estratégico y amplio orientado a garantizar el progreso de las personas y los países en un mundo complejo, interconectado y cambiante. La Estrategia de Competencias de la OCDE actualizada en 2019 tiene en cuenta las lecciones aprendidas tras aplicar la estrategia de competencias original en once países desde 2012, e incorpora nuevos datos de la OCDE sobre el modo en que las competencias se ven afectadas por las megatendencias, esto es, por fenómenos como la globalización, la digitalización, el envejecimiento de la población y las migraciones. Asimismo, la Estrategia toma en consideración los nuevos conocimientos adquiridos en la OCDE sobre las políticas de competencias aplicadas en relación con estos tres componentes generales: desarrollar las competencias necesarias a lo largo de la vida, usar las, competencias de manera eficaz en el trabajo y en la sociedad y fortalecer la gobernanza de los sistemas de competencias.
